Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Workshop
This workshop will explore some of the key principles of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), whilst practising key skills and utilising helpful tools to support someone to engage in initial self-help, using DBT.
What is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy? DBT is an evidence-based psychotherapy that began with efforts to treat borderline personality disorder. There is evidence that DBT can be useful in treating mood disorders, suicidal ideation, and for change in behavioural patterns such as self-harm, and substance abuse.
The Workshop will explore the following:
What is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT techniques and effective emotional regulation
Aware of challenges to applying a DBT approach
Advantages and disadvantages of using DBT approach
Using Brief Solution Focussed Interventions
